The Davis Family

Davis Family Farms is a high-yield operation. The operation is run with the mission to grow the highest yield possible with the lowest amount of economic input. It is important to Bart to farm with a conservation mindset to ensure the quality of his farmland for future generations. In addition to the row crop operation, the family runs a small cattle operation.

Bart Davis was able to continue the farming legacy of his father, Bart Davis, Sr. Bart and his wife, Paula, emersed their three children, Trey, Jedd, and Lakyn, in agriculture from a young age. Now, all three children have returned to the family farm, bringing their families with them to continue the family tradition.

The once 500-acre row crop farm has evolved to a 7,500-acre operation focusing on precision agriculture. Although the size and focus of Davis Family Farms has evolved, the family’s admiration for agriculture has remained.

Davis Family Farms is a three-generation family farm in Doerun, Georgia. Bart Davis, the 2023 Georgia Farmer of the Year, works alongside his children and their families to run the family farm.

Bart Davis acquired the farm in 1982 under less-than-desirable conditions. Bart’s father, Henry Bart Davis Senior, passed away during Bart’s senior year of high school. After completing his high school education, Bart returned to the family farm and took over the operation.

At the time, the farm consisted of 500 acres. Today, the family farm has expanded to 7,500 acres spanning over five counties, including Colquitt, Worth, Mitchell, Dougherty, and Tift counties. The farm grows several row crops, including cotton, peanuts, corn, and some small grains.

“We are super pleased to team-up with Magnolia Loom on their Georgia Grown and Sewn project. It’s amazing to see the process of seed to a finished product completed within a 200-300 mile area. It’s phenomenal to see production brought back to the United States.” - Trey Davis
